Anne Troake: MasterClass
presented by SAW Video, Ottawa Dance Directive / Centre de danse contemporaine and Canada Scene National Arts Centre / Centre national des Arts
Friday, July 14th
4PM – 7PM @ ODD Studios
Deadline for registration: June 15th
This is an open call for participants to take part in a MasterClass with renowned Canadian artist Anne Troake. The class is directed towards individuals with any level of experience in dance/choreography. Participants of the class should expect to take part in group dance exercises, record video collaboratively, and engage in discussion.
The work of Anne Troake locates itself between the experimental, embodied language of dance performance and the visually representative medium of film/video. Troake’s workshop will investigate this translation of moving from one form into the other as both a problem and a potential. Armed with low-fidelity cameras, participants will shoot video, collectively view their footage, and be lead through group exercises that explore questions of site and camera placement through the lens of dance.
To register, please submit a brief statement of interest in the workshop, and a bio that outlines your experience as an artist, each no longer than 200 words. There is no fee associated with taking part in class, and spots are limited. This MasterClass will be delivered in English. Please send your registration contents to Neven Lochhead at firstname.lastname@example.org no later than Thursday, June 15th.
